Made from fine bone china, these mini mugs are masterpieces – Literally! Using paintings from The National Gallery’s collection, Whitbread Wilkinson have married traditional art with functional design and, thankfully, the honeymoon period continues. The mugs also feature a coloured stripe inspired by a detail of the painting.
Painted during Thomas Gainsborough’s early years, this portrait is a symbol of Robert Andrews’s estate, of which his marriage to Mrs Andrews formed a part. Whilst we hope you’re not a submissive wife with a gunslinging husband (or vice versa), this painting is a real winner. Examples of Gainsborough’s painterly skill include the convincingly changing weather and naturalistic surroundings, still innovative features at the time.
You don't need to live in a manor house or eat caviar to own one of these mini masterpieces.
